We accept most plans. Please be sure to have your insurance adjuster’s name, phone number, and/or email address.
We can accept car insurance as long as your health insurance is accepted at our office. Once Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits is paid out by the car insurance, coverage then shifts to your health insurance, so we may need to be able to bill your health insurance as well. Please call our office manager to provide her with your car insurance claim number, name of your auto insurance carrier, and the adjuster’s name, phone number and/or email address.
Yes. If you have sustained a concussion in any way (sports, fall, motor vehicle accident, work accident etc.) you can be seen by one of our neuropsychologists for an evaluation.
No. Baseline testing is not covered by health insurance at this time. There is a $50 fee for a baseline test administered at our office.
If you or your child has NOT had a concussion recently, then we can do baseline testing at our office. Appointments last about one hour and include a brief interview with one of our neuropsychologists, your child taking the ImPACT test (about 25-30 minutes), and a brief review of results afterward. You will receive a copy of the test results. Please call our office manager to schedule an appointment.

We are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BC/BS) United Behavioral Health, Optum, Aetna, Medicare, Mass. Behavioral Health Partnership (MBHP), GIC/Unicare, Tricare, and Tufts only. We DO NOT accept Cigna, Fallon, or any MassHealth/Commonwealth Care Plans.
Although if you have a PPO plan with out-of-network benefits you may be covered as well. Please call the number on the back of your insurance card to find out if prior authorization is necessary for you to have neuropsychological testing due to a head injury (be sure to say head injury). Please be sure they know that Sports Concussion New England and our doctors are NOT in their network. If prior authorization is not obtained you may end up responsible for payment. Many insurance plans will cover the cost of the visit. Our office manager Deb Petrie will be happy to verify benefits with you.
